Battle for the House!

Updated 04/22/20
Preliminary research indicates that Republicans could take back the US House with 220 seats in 2020. The number needed to gain the Majority is 218.

Republicans currently hold 196 US House seats. We have 3 vacant seats that were previously held by Republicans, and 2 have Special Elections – NY 27 on June 23rd & WI 07 on May 12th. CA 50 is vacant until after the November General Election. The US House has 435 seats. 218 seats are needed to have the majority. We would need to keep all of our currently Red seats (196), win both Special Elections (198) win CA 50 (199) and add 19 seats to = 218

We will likely keep 194 of our 196 current seats

119 are Solid Red
24 are Likely Red
50 Tilt Red
2 Red Battles may flip Blue (GA 07 – TX 23)
196 – 2 = 194

We have a good chance to gain 26 seats (Flip 23 and fill 3)

3 Vacant seats are likely to be won by a Republican ( CA 50, WI 07 & NY 27)
1 Independent seat may flip Red (MI 03)
17 out of 30 Blue Target seats have a good chance to flip Red
5 Blue Battle seats have a good chance to flip Red
194 + 26 = 220

SUMMARY

218 needed to take the House
196 Total Red seats
2 Potential losses = 194
26 Likely gains= 220
