Ted's Rating: 3 Stars (Rating Criteria)
Ted Gradel became a successful business leader after graduating from college where he walked on to the Notre Dame Football Team. He has served in his community for over 20 years as a youth sports coach and mentor. He was named by the National Republican Congressional Committee as an "On the Radar" candidate in August 2019.
Ted knows that the liberals want to interfere with the rewards that a free market brings, and wants to fight to keep America the greatest in the world as a US Congressman. He stands against career politicians and wants to pass term limits in congress. He opposes progressive tax hikes, want to freeze property taxes and make the recent tax cuts permanent. Ted believes that the greatest threat to our national security is our out of control debt. Ted agrees with having a strong military in line with Ronald Reagan's term "peace through strength". The Federal Election Commission file on Ted shows close to 300k cash on hand and 30k debt as of June 30, 2019.
No mention of President Trump is found on Ted Gradel's website, Twitter or Facebook page. Ted posted a letter to IL 14 Incumbent Lauren Underwood (D) opposing efforts of Impeachment without mention or support for our President. Ted's platform aligns with our President on Taxes and Foreign Policy. No mention of President Trump was found in any public statements, either positive or negative.
Catalina Lauf (R)
Catalina Lauf is running for congress to fight for the future of the American Dream. Inspired by President Trump’s historic 2016 campaign, his efforts to Drain the Swamp, and his drive to put all Americans first, Catalina left the private sector for public service. In 2018 Catalina was appointed by President Trump as an Advisor at the U.S. Department of Commerce where she was able to serve her country and the Administration by applying her private sector experience to government. In 2019, thanks to President Trump’s Tax Cuts and Job’s Act, Catalina left the Administration to help her father grow his business, focusing on a new product launch and leading the company’s sales and distribution initiatives.

Matt Quigley (R) WITHDRAWN
Matt is a formal naval officer and entrepreneur. He supports lowering the cost of higher education as well as alternative, vocational training. His position on immigration is that he supports a wall to discourage people from risking human trafficking or death, merit based legal immigration and assimilation. His website states that we should "deter" anyone who wants to enter illegally which doesn't sound as strong as stopping or preventing, but I do believe he strongly favors the wall. Matt aligns with President Trump on peace through strength militarily, and that we are not the police of the world. In healthcare Matt supports free-market policies with transparent pricing. On our #2 amendment Matt strikes a strong position in favor of that right and also believes that mental health is what needs to be addressed over any gun control efforts. "Human life starts when its own heart starts beating" is Mike's statement on Sanctity of Life.
Matt has no political experience which is a plus because he will lead as a citizen, not a political class. His biggest concern is hate, saying that it became worse after the divisive 2018 elections and that we need to take a stand and love our neighbors. Personally I agree, but sometimes love has to be tough and bad people must be challenged. Strong language is needed to wake our people up to the damaging effects of years of conformity of thought and speech hammered into us through leftist ideology.
Financially, Matt has set goals for fundraising and met those goals for the first quarter. The Federal Election Commission shows a total receipt of $13,916.62 through 03/31/19. Democrat Underwood has $342,339.57 for that same time frame. Stay tuned for updates to Matt's finances, and comparisons to other Republican Primary candidates.
I really like Matt Quigley overall and admire his use of social media. I appreciate that he uses the hashtags #MAGA & #KAG and that Matt's platform is Pro-President Trump and positive. Even when calling out his opponent, Democrat incumbent Lauren Underwood, he focuses on the issue and includes what he will do differently. I am impressed with his integrity and willingness to commit wholeheartedly to serving in the office of US House Representative. Matt succeeded in early life leadership experiences as an Eagle Scout and Swim Team Captain and later as a Naval Officer where he was deployed around the globe and then ensured quality training for new US sailors. Following his military service Matt earned a Masters in Business and co-founded his own company writing software that guides entrepreneurship and business planning. The field is very crowded for the Republicans running in IL 14. Matt lacks name recognition but he may just be a bright, rising star! Donate to Matt Quigley for Congress.
Sadly, as I am finishing this article I just found out that Matt withdrew
